  1. This image has had RAW and levels edit (and straightened the horizon because it really bothers me). I've included the RAW edit as it may help. I sampled several areas of the girl's dresses to obtain white balance. There is an awful cast do you think? My attempts have failed, I hope you can help! Thank you.
  2. I'm posting a link to an image on someone's facebook page. I haven't done it before so I hope it works! Also, my image. RAW edit and levels edit done. Not skin yet, still getting through that class. I love the neutral tones, and how the subject is clearly defined from the background. Thank you.
  3. Hi Damien. Is it allowed that we post a screenshot of someone else's photo to explain the look we are trying to achieve in editing please? Thanks Emma
  4. Thank you Damien! If I post images, shall I post on this thread?
  5. Hi Damien Is there somewhere I can learn how to fix a colour cast please? For example adding blue to correct yellows? or explains the colour wheel etc? Teaching which colour (or mis of colours) to add in different situations? I can't seem to grasp it, and it's probably so simple! Thank you.
  6. One more question, sorry! If you have an already vivid colour (therefore not needing the levels layer), do you still recommend moving the red sliders only in the Hue/Saturation layer or play around with the other colour sliders as well?
  7. Thanks for your instructions and PSD file Damien! Just a few quick questions. 1) When making your first levels layer and changing the middle sliders in each R, G,an B channels as you have, are those numbers recommended for all images or does it depend on the final colour you're seeking? (or does this become clear in your channel mixer class) and 2) Do you just adjust the red sliders in the hue/saturation layer until you're heart's content and you're happy with the final colour? No rules or recommendations? Thank you. Emma
  8. Ok thank you. I don't mind it being there, it's just annoying that sometimes 2014 version opens, and another the 2917 version opens. Is there a way of telling it that I only want 2017 opening without having to right click to select 2017 all the time?
  9. Hi Brian I have recently updated my photoshop cc to 2017 version on my mac. Do I need to uninstall the 2014 version that is still on my computer or will it harm the new version somehow? Sometimes when I double click a photo in Bridge, it will open 2014 version for no apparent reason, other times it will open 2017 version. I have the 2017 version set to my default (I think I did it correctly). Thank you Emma
  10. Hi Damien Quite some time ago I remember setting up my photoshop cc workspace following a video tutorial of yours. My photoshop crashed recently, and has cleared all of my actions/brushes and has reset to the default workspace. Can you please tell me where to find your tutorial on setting up the workspace? Thank you Emma I have a Mac desktop running OS X Yosemite Version 10 and Photoshop cc. It is under 2 years old, and has 16GB of RAM. Its hard drive has 817GBGB free out of 1000GB. The last time I shut down was more than 2 days ago. I have never run a cleanup program.
  11. I've had a painstakingly go! I quite like the face, but I'm not convinced on the neck shadow. What do you think? Thank you Emma
  12. Oh wow! that looks great! Thanks so much!! Here is a crop of her neck.
  13. I was wondering if the levels class would help with this kind of thing?
  14. Yes, I moved my flash for another shot and didn't move it back :-( Studio lighting is another issue I struggle with, there are no camera shops where I live to research different options/results, so it's trial and error from FB pages and forums. It won't happen again!
  15. Hi Damien. Can you please advise how to reduce or remove the harsh shadow on the mum please? (I have asked about the backdrop previously, so it's just for the shadows on her please). Thanks so much. Emma
  16. WOW! What you did is PERFECT!! I have spent about 2 hours giving it a go and it is quite hard! I will keep playing with the sliders and try to master it. One question though, I watched your "gradient Layers" video inside the link you provided above for preventing banding in backdrops. I didn't understand how you completely hide the layer mask on the gradient fill 1 (at 7min 37 sec), in order to do the masking on the image as a whole and not just the selection. May you share how you do this please? Thank you
  17. Hi Damien This image is SOOR (thank you for your advice!). Could I have some advice on how to remove the awful shadows on the backdrop please? Thank you!!
  18. Hi Damien I am stumped as to how to edit this image. It is shot into the sun and has created a beautiful background that I like, but the subjects are dark and hazy. I have tried many things to fix it but to no avail. I am wondering if you would be able to help please? I have done a RAW edit (to the best that I think with the light!) Thank you so much!
  19. OK. I'll definitely be doing that one once I've finished the ones I'm getting through! Thanks so much for your help Damien. You really are a genius in my eyes!!
  20. This is my effort using your magic numbers. Do you think it's acceptable? Also, how did you come up with those magic numbers? Or is it something I will learn over time on how to choose those numbers?
  21. When you talk about entering the values on all three channels, do I choose the red channel and it's the number on the right that you entered (in this image it is 240)? Then doing the same for the Blue and Green channels?
