Saving jpg options defaults
meris replied to meris's topic in Photoshop / Elements / Bridge / ACR questions or problems
It should save the same, only the last 2 options make the file smaller? I edit in PS and save as jpg ~10mb. Because I don't want to keep as psd ~200mb or tiff (slow & ~100mb). I need jpg because if I use a viewer to look at photos it needs jpg. If I blogstomp it needs jpg. Proselect can take tiff but only 8bit. -
Actually haven't been able to get it quite right looking. However I'll wait for the client to ask to swap the screens, since I don't have the app they want on there.
-
OK, just one thing. Once I've placed it in, what do I do to tint it to the same as the original?
-
I know how I would take a screen and swap it in and skew it, tho I was hoping to avoid any masking job around the hair as there are a few shots... I guess no way around it.

OK. Just straight horizon, gradient for sky. Cool thanks.

full size file 2.5mb https://www.dropbox.com/s/n2uxg4zihwfgw7l I have a bunch of similar angles. Sky isn't a straight gradient right?
-
How would I remove the buildings inthe back from a series like this? You can leave the ground. I thought it would be easy, being a straight line but it doesn't look realistic when I cut a line for the ground. I'm also not sure how to blend the sky, again it looks a bit fake.

I'm actually overseas so I can't make an example as I don't have my tablet. I'll make one when I get back. I was wondering because of the slight price difference in wacoms here if I should pick something up.
-
I sometimes feel there is banding when I brush or mask with my tablet. I'm wondering if it's due to it being 1000levels 133pps. I looked at https://www.damiensymonds.net/what2buy_tab.html I'm wondering about the no brand ones with more levels and 200pps would help. Only $100 or so. I'm guessing it is better than going to an intuos draw which only increases levels to 2000 and doesn't change pps. https://www.huiontablet.com/all-products/graphic-tablets/inspiroy-q11k.html Sadly there's no shop to test it out.

How do you add gradients together?
meris replied to meris's topic in How to achieve a certain look or effect
It's just any gradient. Even this horizontal with transparency makes some radial bands on the BR https://www.dropbox.com/s/x64h4hkp5ibgfjc/test.rar?dl=0 -

Yes full wall in this case. I've masked out the subject on another layer. Putting a wall underneath, and a noise layer. But in some cases I have no transparency in the gradients . If I'm copying colors around the L & R of a subject, which are different because of the light positions, both bgs are a vertical gradient in that case. -

Oh yes, that's my go-to now for replacing bg. When should we use masks? -

I' m creating a blank wall which has different lights faling on it. It may have 1 gradient going up and down, but also light falloff going from L-R. And faint hotspots that may be from downlights. It only needs to be monochrome. Or sometimes I'm trying to blend a fake wall with a real like your extending bg tutorial. -

argh I pasted in and it looked fine but it doesn't save.... I mean I'd make layers like this, with a gradient in the mask going opposite directions, or even circular gradients in the mask. -
If I want to blend a few gradients together, I would think of this: plus With the masks supposedly cancelling each other it should be a blend of 1 into 2. But it doesn't seem to do that in real life. You get bands forming in the middle part. How would I make an uneven gradient?

There's no way to make a radial elliptical is there? -

OK, then 2 questions 1) When should I use the paint tools? 2) what's the best way to make an oddly shaped shadow that's not round? I was going to use a D&B layer and paint on it. -

This one's a mouse, but the tablet looks the same too. It's pretty apparent isn't it? More than my halo problem. -

Yes, seems mouse & tablet are the same in this case 1 click gets rings Drawing a line gets bands like you see. -

Yes. I found if I put spacing 1% it seems kinda OK, but with hardness 0 I can still see bands. Look at this just 1 click. You can see the rings right? -
What do you think about the fact I can hardly see it on screen, but it gets multiplied by print? I'm not sure how to avoid this mistake in future, unless i stare at each area at 200%. Is there a way to see things like this more easily?
