SarahStacker Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 Hi Damien My usual print lab can't do a matt size for my 20x40in print that I took through the print sharpening class recently so I'm looking at a different lab however they request all files to be in Adobe 1998 so they are print ready. Should I run a mile and find another lab to do it? Thanks Sarah
Damien Symonds Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 Ah, give them a chance, I guess. Don't change your editing workflow, of course. Just convert your file to Adobe RGB when you're preparing the print file.
SarahStacker Posted November 23, 2017 Author Posted November 23, 2017 OK, thanks. Should I lessen my PSA just in case as I haven't don't test prints with this particular lab? It's normally 350 which I know you think is quite high anyway...
Damien Symonds Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 Yes, good point. Probably safer that way. 1
SarahStacker Posted November 27, 2017 Author Posted November 27, 2017 OK, help! I've changed my PSA to 300 and now I'm trying to convert the file to Adobe RGB 1998. I found another post where you gave instructions to someone else as to how to convert the file. I followed that and I get this error message: Could not complete the Convert to Profile command because the ICC profile description is invalid. Have you encountered this before?
Damien Symonds Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 Gosh, never heard of that one before! May I see a screenshot of the error message?
Damien Symonds Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 So strange. Can you show me a screenshot of the Convert to Profile window so I can check your settings? Have you restarted since this problem occurred?
SarahStacker Posted November 27, 2017 Author Posted November 27, 2017 I restarted my computer and tried again but still get the same message. Here are my settings.
Damien Symonds Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 Yes, that looks exactly as it should. I'm flummoxed, sorry. I've never heard of this problem before.
SarahStacker Posted November 27, 2017 Author Posted November 27, 2017 OK, thanks anyway. I'll get the print lab to fix it (if they can). So strange!
Damien Symonds Posted December 27, 2017 Posted December 27, 2017 Did this problem ever occur again, Sarah?
