Stacey Sedgman
I have an asus laptop and since yesterday the screen will randomly turn off whilst I'm doing something (usually editing). I was playing a video literally 10 minutes ago after just having powered up the laptop from sleep and the screen went black while the video continued to play in the background. I have to turn it off and back on again for the screen to turn on again.
Damien Symonds
Hi Stacey, I'm not Brian, and I don't really know what I'm talking about, but I'm wondering if you've tried plugging in a desktop screen to the laptop; and if the problem still occurs with that screen? If it doesn't, that would seem to suggest a problem with the backlight. Needless to say, be VERY diligent about keeping your laptop backed up at all times, while this problem is persisting.
Stacey Sedgman
I have an external screen that I edit on so I'll try and plug that in and see if it persists. Backing up everything doubly as we speak although I backup regularly anyway.
Brian
What version of OS? Microsoft recently pushed out a new version of Windows 10 and I’m wondering if the power settings (sleep, hibernate, etc.) got changed. You might want to look there in addition to using an external monitor.
