Sarah_ Posted January 15, 2018 Author Posted January 15, 2018 I have just gone back and masked the Gradient Fill 1 layer more closely, and tweaked the gradient colours again. I can't get Gradient Fill 3 to help much - can you please let me know what I'm doing wrong?
Damien Symonds Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 Gradient 3 must need to be darker. And have you moved it across so it's centred on that shadow area on the left?
Sarah_ Posted January 16, 2018 Author Posted January 16, 2018 Thanks. How's this? Darkened & moved over.
Damien Symonds Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 The background behind the lower left part of the tree is still darker than the gradient, isn't it?
Sarah_ Posted January 16, 2018 Author Posted January 16, 2018 I can't seem to get the colour right - or very close.
Damien Symonds Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 That might be as close as you'll get, eh? Looks like the centre of it needs to be moved down a bit. 1
Damien Symonds Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 Sometimes I find I have to take the scale down really small - like 20% or something - so I can get the gradient centred exactly where I want it. Then take the scale back up again. 1
Damien Symonds Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 Yep! It'll still need some gentle masking around the tree, but much less arduous now. 1
Sarah_ Posted January 16, 2018 Author Posted January 16, 2018 It looks like I have to mask the original 'Gradient Fill 1' layer - is this correct?
Damien Symonds Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 I would say so, yes. Now it's just a matter of blending into the floor, yes?
Sarah_ Posted January 16, 2018 Author Posted January 16, 2018 Ok. Here goes... It feels quite heavy to me.
Damien Symonds Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 It should blend mode a bit more gradually, I think?
Sarah_ Posted January 16, 2018 Author Posted January 16, 2018 Do you mean change to multiply like your layer or by adjusting the arrows in the Gradient Editor panel? (Or something different)?
Damien Symonds Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 Oh, sorry, no, I literally just meant the masking. Blend it more gradually downwards.
Sarah_ Posted January 16, 2018 Author Posted January 16, 2018 Thanks. Just to confirm - are we still talking about the 'Gradient Fill 1' layer?
Sarah_ Posted January 16, 2018 Author Posted January 16, 2018 How's this? Note: I have turned the darker 'Gradient Fill 3' layer off.
Sarah_ Posted January 16, 2018 Author Posted January 16, 2018 This is it with the GF3 layer switched on...
Damien Symonds Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 Longer, even? Like, partway down his shin? 1
Sarah_ Posted January 16, 2018 Author Posted January 16, 2018 I feel like I'm going backwards / making it really scratchy.
