Damien Symonds
WHAT?????????????????? No no no no no no no no no no. Your screen MUST MATCH YOUR PRINTS. Your screen is presently brighter than your prints, so its brightness must go LOWER.
Sarah Neese
Sorry, no, was going to submit a print order with my brightness adjusted.
Sarah Neese
Ok, so I've lowered the brightness of the screen and recalibrated and there is still more red in the screen than on the print. I've gone through all the steps in the soft proofing link and there wasn't any difference in color when toggling back and forth.

Still only in reds, though? All other colours, and neutrals, are ok?
Sarah Neese
No, when comparing the print and screen the screen has more red and the print has more yellow. The print is as if there is a yellow filter on there. The prints just look dirty no matter how I change the brightness to match the print. I'm so sorry. I'm so frustrated. Damien Symonds
Wait, overall redness? This is much different to what you were saying before. If the print is yellower than the screen, the screen needs to be calibrated a bit warmer, yes? By the way, what is new in this equation? Is it a new screen, or a new calibrator? Why is this a problem all of a sudden?
Sarah Neese
Screen has always been more red than the print. Print is more yellow than the screen. New screen. I've had the calibrator for a few years now. There have been more problems of the lab I was using not having accurate color consistently and I wanted to look for a new lab so I went and had some test prints made at a few labs that came highly recommended to me. Damien Symonds
Your sidebar says you have a Mac desktop. Is that current? If so, was your old computer a Mac too?
Sarah Neese
No. I'm currently using a MacBook Pro. Yes, old computer was a MacBook as well.
Damien Symonds
And you're calibrating the onboard screen? Or do you have a desktop screen running off it?
Sarah Neese
I'm calibrating the onboard screen. I don't have the desktop running off of it.
Damien Symonds
Ok, can you update your profile details to say Mac laptop? Ta. Which Spyder do you have?
Sarah Neese
Absolutely! Done! I apologize that I didn't have that updated. Spyder5 Elite Edited February 26, 2018 by Sarah Neese
Damien Symonds
Great, so you're following these instructions? It doesn't seem like you've read all the way to the troubleshooting part?
Sarah Neese
Went through them again and OMG I think I got it! I have a couple that don't match but I have four that match with both brightness and color.
Damien Symonds
Ok, this is promising. When you say "a couple that don't match" ... are they from one particular lab?
Sarah Neese
Yes, the prints I am comparing to the calibration are all from the same lab.
Damien Symonds
Ok, now I'm confused again. Didn't you say you had test prints from a number of labs?
Sarah Neese
I do but I've only been using prints from one lab when matching prints to calibration. The same lab I used the ICC profile and soft proofing for.
Damien Symonds
Well, now's the time to compare them all, isn't it? This will form at least part of your lab decision.
Sarah Neese
The other two that I was comparing was MPix and Millers. Not the two best other choices.
Damien Symonds
Very true. Ok, the two prints that don't quite match - in what way does the screen differ from them?
Sarah Neese
The print is warmer. The brightness is fine though.
Damien Symonds
No, it's really important that we choose our words carefully here. The prints are the benchmark. You mean the screen is cooler than those two prints, yes?
