meris Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 underarm skin folds due to overtight/mis-sized bras - how can these be fixed? There is the chicken's feet at the joint, then the big fold where the breast is pressed in.
Damien Symonds Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Oh, this is always tricky. May I see the whole photo (or at least a larger section) for reference?
meris Posted April 21, 2016 Author Posted April 21, 2016 I tried freq sep + heal, it can get rid of the chicken's feet but there's a few creases running down the arm and it's not quite right. Can't do anything about the fold at all.
Damien Symonds Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Just to be safe, can you check this for me?
meris Posted April 21, 2016 Author Posted April 21, 2016 That was a screencap from LR. Do you need a file to actually edit from? Because that won't fit in a 700x700 100% crop
meris Posted April 21, 2016 Author Posted April 21, 2016 Yes thanks. I think this works. I'd want to make the shadow area extend a bit further up so it doesn't look so bulging. What is the process? I have a couple I need to do.
Damien Symonds Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Oh, actually, I'd dodged that shadow because I thought it looked better lighter. But yes, of course you can do whatever you want. I have to go and make dinner now, I'll try to come back later and explain the process.
Damien Symonds Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Ok, here goes ... First, I used the Marquee Tool to select a big chunk of arm, and moved it up a bit (I lowered the opacity of the layer while doing this, so as to be sure it lined up ok. I also had to rotate it a tiny bit, I'm not sure if you can tell that in this screenshot): Then I gently masked it in, to cover the extra creases in the armpit: Next, I selected a big chunk of her flank, and again I moved it and rotated it (at temporary low opacity) to cover those wrinkles: Then I gently masked it on: In case it helps, here's a view of the mask on that layer: Finally, I used the Handyman Method to tidy up the last of the shadowing (as already discussed, I think I made it a bit lighter than you prefer): Hope this helps. 3
meris Posted April 21, 2016 Author Posted April 21, 2016 Brilliant. Never thought to take another section. Are there retouchers who would do this type of work and what would I expect to pay ?
Damien Symonds Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 What? I just showed you how to do it! Don't give up now. 1
meris Posted April 22, 2016 Author Posted April 22, 2016 I followed this, I get maybe 85% of the way there. This one is passable. I have another one with no bra and hands there. I couldn't get the pressure of the fingers looking right there.
meris Posted April 22, 2016 Author Posted April 22, 2016 This one the belly texture seems too different from the breast area. But mainly I don't know what shape it should be there. When it looks flat or bulging, it wasn't quite right.
meris Posted April 22, 2016 Author Posted April 22, 2016 This one it's so close to the edge, and the shadows are really complex. You can just see at the top finger there's a fold underneath.

I see what you mean, but I don't see that you have any choice. 36 minutes ago, meris said: But mainly I don't know what shape it should be there. When it looks flat or bulging, it wasn't quite right. I would remove it completely, then lower the opacity of that layer to where it looks most plausible (thereby restoring some of the bulge). This will also help with the texture problem. For the slight visible crease at the armpit, just some gentle cloning, I think. 37 minutes ago, meris said: This one it's so close to the edge, and the shadows are really complex.
