Falon Posted October 31, 2018 Posted October 31, 2018 Hi Damien, I’d love to learn how to create those animated photos where they make the snow look like it’s actually falling or the butterflies are flying. Do you know how this is done? Thanks
Damien Symonds Posted October 31, 2018 Posted October 31, 2018 Oh, it's great fun. Have you ever played with the "Animation" panel in Photoshop? Basically, you create different layers in your image, then go to the Animation panel and choose "Make frames from layers". Play with frame timing and such. Then eventually save as a GIF. I don't have a tutorial about it, sorry, but I'm sure you'll find plenty out there.
Falon Posted October 31, 2018 Author Posted October 31, 2018 Ok so this can be done in Cs6. I’ve never played with the animation panel at all but I’m loving the photos I see on Facebook that I’ve snow falling
Damien Symonds Posted October 31, 2018 Posted October 31, 2018 Yes, I do it all the time in my CS5, so you can definitely do it in CS6.
Falon Posted November 1, 2018 Author Posted November 1, 2018 Damien can you help me with this when i go to save for web it comes up with this
Damien Symonds Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 Yes, of course. You need to shrink your file to web-ish dimensions first.
Falon Posted November 1, 2018 Author Posted November 1, 2018 Ok so would the normal Facebook resizing work fine since i will be putting it on there?
Falon Posted November 1, 2018 Author Posted November 1, 2018 Im having trouble with this bit. I resized to Facebook web sizing and then have added the animation. I tried saving and its looking terrible
Damien Symonds Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 Dotty, do you mean? Alas, that's just how gifs are.
Falon Posted November 1, 2018 Author Posted November 1, 2018 Yeah it looks terrible how do people get them to look so good on fb?
Damien Symonds Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 Maybe they know of a way to save them as movies rather than gifs. Can you link me to some?
Falon Posted November 1, 2018 Author Posted November 1, 2018 There’s heaps on this page in her news feed https://m.facebook.com/groups/161569961013755 I couldn’t link to a specific one sorry
Damien Symonds Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 Oh, maybe it's done with Adobe After Effects?
Falon Posted November 1, 2018 Author Posted November 1, 2018 well the lady I was inspired by has made a snow overlay then a action but she says it can only be used in ps cc. I assume adobe after effects is a cc thing?
Damien Symonds Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 Yes it is. I'm not sure if it's included in the normal suite, though.
Falon Posted November 2, 2018 Author Posted November 2, 2018 I asked her she said she does it in cc. I exported as video so it saved as a mp4. Only problem I’m now having is it looks great on my mobile on fb but looks blurry on my computer on fb. Do you know why this could be? I cropped and sharpened as per fb then added snow then exported as mp4
Damien Symonds Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 Is it enlarging it on your computer screen?
Falon Posted November 2, 2018 Author Posted November 2, 2018 Yes it is cause when I make it smaller it looks great is there a way to make it look better for people viewing on there computer screens?
Damien Symonds Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 What I'm reading is that 1280x720 is the recommended size for Facebook videos. 1
Falon Posted November 2, 2018 Author Posted November 2, 2018 Ok will try that i was doing the longest side 960px
