Check the PDF

This step isn't compulsory, but it's a pretty good idea, at least while you're in the early stages of setting up a new workflow.

After the PDF has been saved, open it in Acrobat Pro and open the Output Preview panel.

This allows you to check to make sure that only the four CMYK inks are being used:

While you're there you can also check how things will overprint by toggling each of the inks to see the separations:

Once you're happy with it, you can send the file off to the printer.
