I am trying to replace some background with a solid colour to then add a gradient layer.  The solid colour is not showing as a solid colour at 100% opacity, I can still see the background under the colour fill layer.  I don't know what is happening as I have never had this problem before. Even if I use a gradient at 100% opacity the background is still transparent.

I have a PC desktop running windows 10 and Photoshop cc. It is over 2 years old, and has 14GB of RAM. Its hard drive has 383GB free out of 476GB. The last time I shut down was last night. I run a cleanup program about once a week.

I added more Ram a few years ago

yes everything is at 100% and normal blend mode

No, Still the issue with gradient or colour fill.  But together I get a solid fill.   I have no other work around until I know what is causing the issue I have. the only option I see is to reload Photoshop but I don't want to loose any of my brushes or actions I have
