Lab Profiles

Hi Damien, I am in search of a new print lab and though I have found a few options, some require you to use their own colour profiles for printing. There are different profiles for different papers. So do I change my colour profile on the same image each time a client orders on a  different kind of paper, do I keep the standard SRGB or do I re-edit the photo with each paper order?

Which photo labs are you referring to? Many labs offer ICC profiles for softproofing purposes only, and you would still work and edit in sRGB as always.

And where are you seeing the instructions about the use of their profiles?

If we find this to be true - that is, if they actually require you to convert your images to their profiles before sending - then you must run away from them as fast as you can.  Sadly, there are still some labs who do this.

However if, as Samantha said, the profiles are provided for soft-proofing purposes, this is a good thing.
