Shannon Swanner Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Please help. What is the best way to extend the background? I tried searching the site and came up empty handed. Thanks
Damien Symonds Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Did you happen to see any of these three? this one this one or this one?
Shannon Swanner Posted July 5, 2016 Author Posted July 5, 2016 I didn't. I'll check them out now. Thank you.
Damien Symonds Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 The great news is that none of your subjects have any limbs or hair or anything extruding beyond your seamless. So that will make your job a lot easier. However, it's still not an "easy" job.
Shannon Swanner Posted July 5, 2016 Author Posted July 5, 2016 yes. Thank you. I just watched a video and will try it tomorrow. i do have a few other photos that had some bigger groups that went past the background, would I do it the same way (gradient fill)?

Shannon Swanner Posted July 5, 2016 Author Posted July 5, 2016 Ok, I'll post one in the morning. I've already shut my computer down for the night.

Damien Symonds Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 Wherever it's straightish edges (eg shoulders and sleeves) extending past the backdrop, the masking is reasonably simple, using the Shift key. But that girl's hair might be a problem, especially since it's against a busy bit of background. May I see it close up?

Shannon Swanner Posted July 6, 2016 Author Posted July 6, 2016 I just realize the link you left for instructions for the crop. I did not do that in this close up. I'll go do that now.
Damien Symonds Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 Oh, gee. Make sure you always do your raw processing completely and properly before beginning any Photoshop work. I'm afraid I see no alternative than careful masking with your brush tool around her hair. The result will be a slight "haircut", but there's nothing we can do about that.
Shannon Swanner Posted July 7, 2016 Author Posted July 7, 2016 Thank you. I'm back at my computer for a little bit, I'm gonna try and do this. 1
