Emzy Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 I have created and been using the actions you taught to create in PS for preparing digital files for high resolution and facebook output. I am trying not to revert back to LR for weddings and am wondering if it is possible to batch save images in the same way without having to open each image in PS and save using the actions as many images will simply need RAW processing and no more. I have also been dragging my logo onto each file before saving for facebook so is there a way to do this too. Many thanks, Emma
Christina Keddie Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Are you using the right actions? Damien's web actions include a watermarking step to automate that entire process. And if you read all the instructions, he covers using Image Processor to run the actions so you never have to open a single file in PS. http://www.damiensymonds.net/act_web.html
Emzy Posted September 6, 2016 Author Posted September 6, 2016 Thanks Christina for your reply. I finally found time to check this out and it seems exactly what i need however during the 'fit' stage it actually crops my image and i cant figure out how to correct it. any help would be gratefully received!
Damien Symonds Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 Hi Emzy, which one of the four actions are you using?
Emzy Posted September 6, 2016 Author Posted September 6, 2016 variable watermark, no borders. goodness that was quick!
Damien Symonds Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 Great. And have you jotted down all your relevant info, the way I did here? http://www.damiensymonds.net/images/actions/wmact16.jpg
Emzy Posted September 6, 2016 Author Posted September 6, 2016 Yes I tried the image at 720 x 720 the wm was 197 by 145 and sharpening 200/0.3/1
Damien Symonds Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 Ok, great, then you shouldn't need to change the Fit Image step at all? My default setting should already be 720x720, yes?
Damien Symonds Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 And have you made doubly sure your watermark file is RGB?
Emzy Posted September 6, 2016 Author Posted September 6, 2016 yes but I end up with a tiny square image so not sure whats going wrong
Damien Symonds Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 Ok, may I see a screenshot of it? Your whole screen, including toolbars and stuff, thanks.
Damien Symonds Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 No, that's exactly right. That's exactly how it should look at that step. You need to re-record the Place step, that's where the problem is.
Emzy Posted September 6, 2016 Author Posted September 6, 2016 sorry I hadnt realised it had stopped. This is what I end up with once the action has completed.
Damien Symonds Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 Ok, can you choose your Crop Tool, then look at the Options Bar. I think maybe you have the "Delete Cropped Pixels" box unchecked. It must be checked at ALL times.
Damien Symonds Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 Ok, what about if you turn off the Crop step in the action for now. Does it make a difference? I promise, the action works perfectly. Since something is going wrong, it means you didn't follow the instructions to the letter. Somewhere, you missed something.
Emzy Posted September 6, 2016 Author Posted September 6, 2016 yes if i turn off the crop it works fine. Thank you.
Damien Symonds Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 Ok, then may I see a screenshot with your Crop Tool selected?
Damien Symonds Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 See in the options bar, beside "Rule of thirds", there's a little cog? In there, there'll be an option to "Use classic mode" or similar wording. That should solve the problem.
Emzy Posted September 6, 2016 Author Posted September 6, 2016 Sorry was out. I have tried this but its gone back to previously. I can just leave out the crop stage. Thanks for your help though.
Emzy Posted October 8, 2016 Author Posted October 8, 2016 Do you know why when I batch process in bridge, when the raw images are opened in acr before the action is run in Photoshop why they often take on the slider and crop settings from the previous image? It's getting rather annoying finding they are suddenly cropped or dodgy wb after output. Good job I check mine through before handing over!
Damien Symonds Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 Sorry, can you explain the problem a bit further?
