Alicia
Damien, I recently purchased a new computer and had to reinstall photoshop. Can you link me to how to setup the workspace and check the color profile?
Damien Symonds
I would say Module 2 of the Layer & Masks Class, Module 4 of the Raw Class, and the first few slides of Module 6 of the Levels Class.
Alicia
Thanks! Also this one is using microsoft edge, is that good or do I need to switch to firefox?
Damien Symonds
From my testing, Edge seems to be fairly colour-accurate, if that's what you mean.
Damien Symonds
@Alicia, now that your new computer is up and running, I'd love to see some new photos in class!
Alicia
I have not calibrated yet. The monitors came with papers showing their calibration readings but I would assume that I need to do it myself, correct?
Damien Symonds
Correct.
Alicia
Does this look correct?
Damien Symonds
Yes, but it all counts for nothing if the screen doesn't match the prints. How does the comparison look?
Damien Symonds
@Alicia?
Alicia
Recalibrated both screens, do these look acceptable? Digging out prints to compare.
Damien Symonds
The graphs look good, but it all means nought if you don't have a print match.
Alicia
I feel like my prints are slightly darker than my screen. What is my next step?
Damien Symonds
Recalibrate with lower brightness, exactly as my directions say.
Alicia
I have recalibrated again. I still feel like it is too bright. The prints I have are very old, would that make a difference? I also feel like the color temperature is different on each screen.
Damien Symonds
What brightness target did you use that time?

Damien Symonds
Ok, try again at 70. If that's still too bright, then it definitely means that your room light is too dim.
Alicia
Ok, did it again. It is a lot closer. I feel like the color temp is a lot different on the screens tho. On looks quit a bit cooler to me than the other. These are the graphs from the one that looks cooler to me.
Alicia
These are the graphs from the warmer one. This one more closely matches my prints.

Damien Symonds
Great! So you can either: simply choose to edit solely on that one, and only use the other (cooler) screen for emails and stuff; or keep going with recalibrations on the cooler screen (continuing to follow the troubleshooting part of my instructions) to try to get it warmer and better.
