Amy Claire
I have calibrated both my laptop and my desktop. However my laptop screen is not red enough to match my prints. I have tried changing the white point and both were worse than the original settings I calibrated with, is there anything else I should try? Thanks
Amy Claire
Actually maybe my screen is too green? Its so hard to tell. But when I view a black and white image it has a green tinge on the screen.
Damien Symonds
This isn't uncommon. Are you saying you have two separate computers - a laptop and a desktop? Or do you have a desktop screen plugged into the laptop? Which Spyder do you have?
Amy Claire
Yes I have a desktop plugged into a laptop. I tried unplugging the desktop and just calibrating the laptop as I couldn't seem to get a good match. I have the spyder 5 pro. Am I able to calibrate both screens so if I can't always be at my desktop I at least know my laptop is calibrated too? Now that I calibrated my laptop the profiles for my desktop don't seem to be there.
Damien Symonds
The Spyder Pro allows you to calibrate both screens, yes. However, ultimately it comes down to the laptop's ability to handle them. Mind you, most modern laptops have a graphics card powerful enough to cope with multiple profiles at once, so I'd be surprised if this was a problem. If you're not sure if each screen's profile is being honoured, you can use this. Are you following my calibration instructions here for the laptop, and here for the desktop? Amy Claire
Yes I a following those instructions for both. No matter what I do I seem to have the same green tinge Thanks for the tip I will definetly download that program.
Damien Symonds
Just to confirm, are you getting a good print match with the desktop?
Amy Claire
Oh the laptop the match to the prints is pretty good, just not enough red. However on my laptop black and white images have a definite green colour to them. On my monitor the match to the prints is pretty good but the prints have a bit of a green tinge and the screen isnt quiet as red. The black and white print definetly has a green tinge compared to the screen. Sorry if I am confusing you, I am confusing myself. That program works fantastic thank you. Damien Symonds
Alas, green-red is impossible to compensate for with the Pro, as far as I know. The Elite has powerful functions for doing so.
Amy Claire
When I open it up now its asking if I want to pay to upgrade my software to spyder elite if I pay. Are you suggesting I need to do this in order to get my screens calibrated properly? Will you be able to walk me through what to do if I do purchase this? Damien Symonds
If you upgrade to the Elite (and yes, I do recommend it if you can afford it) you'll find that my Elite instructions include the "SpyderTune" section for this purpose.
Amy Claire
Do I have top buy a whole new calibrator or just the software? Just wondering how long it will take to arrive.
Damien Symonds
Well, my understanding was that it was just the software. But I've never actually done it.
Amy Claire
I have purchased the elite software and have successfully calibrated my desktop however I am still wishing to also calibrate my laptop. My laptop is too green compared to my prints but even in spydetune I don't seem to be able to get the green to go away. Any suggestions? Damien Symonds
Do you mean you can't see any visual change when you adjust the sliders in Spydertune?
Amy Claire
No I can see physical chnages but cant match the prints. The green tinge wont seem to go away.
Damien Symonds
You've pulled the sliders as far as they will go, and it's still not enough? That's extremely unusual.
Amy Claire
Sorry Ive been unwell, but yes even when I pull both sliders as far to the left (Blue and Purple) the screen still has a green tinge.
Damien Symonds
When you got to the analysis part of the calibration instructions, is this the one you chose?
Amy Claire
No I was going to Sypder Tune sorry I thought that was the one you said was good so I needed to upgrade to the Elite. If I re calibrate what do i change the white point to if the screen is too green?
Damien Symonds
Yes, that screenshot is from the Spyder5Elite instructions. Did you follow them right from the beginning?
Amy Claire
Yes sorry I just chose the wrong step on the analysis page. If the screen is green do I need to make the screen warmer or cooler?
Damien Symonds
That sure is a good question. I'd try making it warmer, first, and see what happens.
Amy Claire
A white point of 7800K got rid of the green tinge but the images now don't have enough red in them. Any suggestions? Also when I recalibrate and only change the white point setting is it ok that I am calibrating over the last profile I just made instead of returning to factory settings? Amy Claire
sorry 7500K
