Collette Posted November 15, 2022 Share Posted November 15, 2022 I purchased a refurbished Epson Perfection 850 Pro from the Epson.ca website with extended warranty on it. It has the Silverfast SE8 software/license key with it and all the slide/photo trays etc. Is Silverfast the software I should scan with for scanning old slides/photos etc.? It does come with Epson software and an xrite colour mangement CD. Of course, I have to find the same as a download. My computer doesn't have an optical drive. I really haven't played around with a Flatbed Scanner in quite some time. But I'd assume you'd start there. Since your computer doesn't have a DVD Drive, you can purchase one relatively cheap: External DVD Drive, USB 3.0 Portable CD/DVD-RW Drive/ DVD Player Of course, you should look to see if there are any recent downloads for the software that you have, and pay attention for any compatibility warnings with newer Operating Systems, like Windows 11.
