I'm shopping around for a first-time laptop for my daughter, who will be a freshman in college studying biomedical engineering but also likes to take pictures and use Photoshop. I have only ever used a desktop. We were shopping around and came across this Dell workstation. Do you have any insight on the specs? Please advise. Thank you very much.

Well, the Display Panel isn't a IPS-Based one, so "Photo Editing" will be limited, but I guess it depends on WHAT she is doing to her photos in Photoshop. If all she is doing is running an Action or Two and not truly "editing," as a laptop it's "fine." I'd pick the 2nd one from the left, but the small HD concerns me. You really want a 1TB Main HD.
 

But if she is really going to edit-edit photos to get the best results, I'd pass on these models.
