Because I'm a raging geek, I am presently running four screens on my computer.  So this section shows me my four screens, with the main screen selected by default:


However for this demonstration I want to calibrate the fourth screen, so I click that one:


As soon as I do that, the whole software window jumps to the screen I've chosen.

If you only have one screen, of course yours will be chosen correctly already.

Technology Type


Beneath the monitor number is an all-important drop-down menu where you choose the Technology Type.  It's really important to get this right.  Most modern screens are White LED, so it's the default setting, but if you happen to have a screen that's different and you don't choose correctly, your calibration results could be bad.

This site is a really good resource for finding out about your screen: https://www.displayspecifications.com/  Look for the "Backlight" item.

For example, it tells me that my Dell uses CCFL:


So that's what I choose:
