MSweeney
Hi Damien, we had a background snafu for my sisters newborn session ( the wider/taller one didn't arrive ). What would be the best way to extend it while keeping the shadows? The bright space photo left is intended, that's my light source but I would be cleaning that up and ideally, the whole thing would be white but the light source would be brighter for depth. This is just out of camera but I can do my Raw processing if need be. Thanks!
Damien Symonds
Oh hell. The little girl's pony tail is the problem. Did you capture another photo of her pony tail at a similar angle against white? Or even the grey wall colour?
MSweeney
No and I’m kicking myself. I do have this one and a whole series like this but it’s was not with family
Damien Symonds
Looks like the focus is different on her hair in that one? It would need to be as similar as possible.

This is as good as I could get it, but her pony tail is very wrong and I hate that they look plastered with no shadowing/the light source doesn't make sense.. Damien Symonds
Oh, pity it's chopped off at the top. But still, that might work.

Well I have this one for the top. Gosh, never again what a nightmare. The wider paper arrived 30 minutes after the session of course.

Great, will do - any thoughts on how to keep it natural looking with the shadowing so they don't look like they were just plopped down?
Damien Symonds
Generally you want to avoid a pure white background. Use a bit of a gradient. It can be pure white at the left, but light grey at the right.
