BarbL
I am trying to calibrate my monitor. The Spyder 5 Pro is asking to identify what my Brightness or Kelvin Presets are..I have no idea what all this is or where to find it. So frustrating! Can anyone help? This is a Dell S2340M monitor. Damien Symonds
Just to check, are these the instructions you're following?
BarbL
I started to, but then got confused. Those instructions did not tell me to actually click on the icon to download and have it go through the registration...so I went back to the instructions from the Spyder. But I have not gotten far. Damien Symonds
The Spyder's own instructions are terrible. Please ignore them, ONLY follow my instructions.
BarbL
Ok, no problem. First, it says to move the OSD, I 'think' mine is on the bottom right. If so, the 'sliders' are not easily manipulated.
Damien Symonds
Bottom right is great. I love it when that's the case. One less thing to worry about.
BarbL
Ok. So, adjustment is done manually on the side of the monitor then? (Seems strange)
Damien Symonds
Oh? What's strange about it? It's just a place to make the adjustments, which affect the whole screen. May I see a photo of your screen, and its OSD, to make sure we're talking about the same thing?
Damien Symonds
I have to pop out to the post office. Back in ten or fifteen minutes.
BarbL
It was difficult to even get the menu to pop up, but no worries. Now that I know where it is and that is what it is for...we can move on. I guess match my pictures? No prob. I need to eat. BarbL
Holy crap. If this is where I compare pictures in hand to the pictures on the monitor. It is BAD! Monitor is so much brighter and in hand is so dark! ew!
Damien Symonds
Yes, don't worry, that's very common. Lower that screen brightness, no matter how much you hate it.
BarbL
Ok, now this is with how many photos? If I remember there was black and white and a couple other with bright colors?
BarbL
This is quite difficult

BarbL
Alright, I think the brightness is 'ok'. They are all different, so it was difficult.
Damien Symonds
Great!
BarbL
What throws me off is the color I think. They are all different. So, it seems they ALL need adjusted in some way or other.
Damien Symonds
Don't worry about that, that's what the calibration is for. As long as the brightness is roughly in the ballpark, you can continue following the instructions.
BarbL
It's roughly. I just went through the color as well. (Amazing, I could do that!) Eh, 'warm' was the closest. So, that is where it is set. Still, not perfect.
Damien Symonds
Keep going.
BarbL
Ok, so I picked the 'warm'...now, you say to Install my software, but I did that. Just didn't get through it. I was stuck at "Identify Controls" Edited December 29, 2016 by BarbL
Damien Symonds
Can you show me a screenshot of that screen?
BarbL
I can try. It is the same screen you have in the instructions. Where it states Identify Controls.
Damien Symonds
Yes, you have both Brightness and Kelvin controls.
