I'd like to try changing the color of the heating pad from blue to cream instead of cloning it out. What method should I use?

Hi Jennifer, I've moved this post to AD, since it's not a class question per se.

The easiest way would be to add a cream Solid Color layer set to "Color" blend mode.

Let me know if that isn't satisfactory, and we can explore a more complex method.

I'm not having luck with the color layer. The effect is too transparent I think. What else can I try?

Then perhaps I misunderstood your question?  What colour was it supposed to be?
