Not sure if I've got cabin fever but I don't seem to be able to save camera defaults in this new version like I could before I updated last week.  I had it set to have zero sharpening applied as a default but now I don't seem to be able to do that

I use Glary regularly and used the 'wipe free space' option the other day.  There were no warnings or anything when I used this.  However, when I went to use the same option in Ccleaner  (drive wiper from 'tools' option) it warned me that wiping free space from an SSD is not advisable as it can make the drive wear out prematurely.  I've only done this once using Glary, so I'm hoping that it's not an issue but what is the truth behind this please?  I know not to defrag a SSD

I just had a new laptop last Christmas, if I ask for another now I'll be toast!  I'm only a hobby photographer so I don't want to spend too much.  I'd be interested though to learn if there are any external SSD harddrives available similar to your suggestion above? - not sure I want to take apart a newish laptop.  Thanks for the answer though

Does anyone know what these files are for or if I can safely delete them please?  They currently take up nearly 8 gb of my ssd c drive so keen to move them if I can

My new camera, Canon EOS RP, has an in camera facility which can automatically create a 'stack' of photos starting from an initial focus point,  through the image until the set number of pictures has been taken.  This is done to increase the depth of field on mainly, but not solely, macro images.  Photoshop does an ok job of stacking the images together but I'm currently trialling software from Helicon and it seems to do a much better job.  The only issue I have is that the current Helicon software does not accept my cr3 raw files.  I can create a tiff file from the rendered , stacked images which I batch converted to tiff files from cr3 files in photoshop's image processor

I'm unsure about the quality of tiff files vs cr3 files and want to know if the rendered tiff file is a good quality file to use for editing in photoshop?

Not sure how or why this file has cmyk appended to it.  On images properties tab it's in RGB 8 bit.  I have a dozen or so jpegs I'm editing and none of the others have this on them

I've just updated to the new version of photoshop cc 2018 and my ACR has changed back to Adobe RGB from sRGB - just in case this happens to anyone else before it's too late

I've only just noticed this but when I flatten my file I lose saturation and detail.  The attached images are captured using the snipping tool.  Have I got something set up wrong?

got it.  I was just wondering.  As I said I've been watching some youtube videos and thought I'd explore this colour mode and see what your thoughts were.  I can see that you don't like it - a bit like lightroom .  It was confusing to follow but thank you anyway
