Sue Morris
Hi Damien. I am trying to help someone improve the quality of an image they want to use as a desktop screen background. Should they resize to the exact pixel dimensions of their screen? And is the standard sharpening for web practice enough? Also for some reason they say they are saving the image as 24 bit - am I right in thinking there is no advantage to this?

Should they resize to the exact pixel dimensions of their screen? Yes, definitely. 14 minutes ago, Sue Morris said: And is the standard sharpening for web practice enough? Yes, perfect. 15 minutes ago, Sue Morris said: Also for some reason they say they are saving the image as 24 bit - am I right in thinking there is no advantage to this? All photos are 24-bit (well, most, anyway). What file format are they saving as?
Sue Morris
I assume jpeg
Damien Symonds
Well, it would be safest not to assume anything. It's possible they are saving as PNG, and if that's the case, then yes, 24-bit is essential. The other option is 8-bit, which will be very poor quality. What software do they have?
