Do you mean adding some extra background at the top and bottom of the image?

Yes I would like to make a 16x16 square. At the moment it cuts off the edges of circle. its more like a oval actually... but id prefer not to cut off edges

I copied a chunk from the right-hand side (twice) and rotated and flipped them to use top and bottom (with the help of some D&B to blend).  Then a bit of cloning for the corners.  I think it would work ok.

Gosh, I think it's looking really good!

Now it's time to add the cloning layer and clone those corners.

i done the other cnrs (about 5 times now) but it just wasn't working properly

What wasn't working, exactly?  What went wrong?

I've gone back to the start again. It's to do with the layers order and being able to blend. they just aren't blending well. I'm not sure how to use D & B very well either

In your screenshot, I can't see a D&B layer or a cloning layer.  Are there more layers than could fit in your screenshot?

No but i have started again. And it;s not working either

Take a look at my file again.  See how it really was just two big rectangular chunks of the photo that I copied, then moved and rotated into place?

I can see from your layers that you must be trying to carefully select some blanket before copying it.  That's wholly unnecessary.

How am i supposed to clone? when i do it only allows me to clone onto the layer im on i cant blend the edges with the clone stamp

Oh!  In the Options Bar, your clone tool must be set to "Sample: Current and below"

i would like to blur the grey blanket please. do i make the whole thing a smart object? i'm not very familar with it. then gaussian blur on a new layer

I will crop to centre also before i finish
