bridge not reading mark iii files

I use CS4 and bridge for editing. I know I need to upgrade,  but this is what I have now. I just got a used mark iii and bridge is not reading the files. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I got as far as converting the files, but I can’t get them to open. This is what my screen looks like. I am using CS4. I switched the preferences to “Camera Raw 5.4 and later” since it says it’s for CS4. When I click on the dng files it says “windows can’t open files”

Wait, I think I just had to change it to have Ps open them. The default must have been windows. 

I got them open!

Something is wrong here.  They should convert with exactly the same names as their corresponding CR2 files.

Windows shouldn't really enter into it.  You should be viewing them in, and opening them from, Bridge.  PLEASE don't wait too long to take the Bridge Class.  It's only $10, and packed full of really important info.

Now that you can open them, the first step is to zoom in to 100% on one of them in ACR, and make sure the image quality is ok.  There's a known issue where some DNG files don't work in older ACR, they have a weird grid pattern when viewed up close.

I was opening them from the folder on my desktop, not Bridge. Here is one zoomed in at 100%

I think so. I don't see any weird grid pattern at all.
