External monitor for a Toshiba Satellite L50-B

Recommended Posts

Hi there. I'd really love to get a whole new computer (a desktop), but just can't afford that at the moment, so I'm going to see if I can at least afford an external monitor, as I'm finding editing on the laptop really tricky. So....is it as simple as just choosing a good (for my price range) screen, or does it depend on my laptop (graphics card etc etc) as to what it will support? I've read a bit about this and to be honest, have found it quite confusing.

I have a Toshiba Satellite L50-B (Part no. PSKTAA - 003001) and a small budget and I'm in Australia.

What are my options?

Thanks :)

Just checked out those Dell Ultrasharp ones and although I'd love one, the cheapest is $389, which is a bit out of my budget at the moment. Don't you love money! :P

Is this a good budget buy? http://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-22MP58VQ-P-led-monitor

As far as I can see, it has the specs mentioned in the "Which monitor..." article (IPS screen, anti-glare, etc). They also have it here in OZ within my price range. https://www.jbhifi.com.au/computers-tablets/monitors/lg/lg-22mp58vq-21-5-full-hd-ips-led-monitor/945794/

I realise that it's probably not that crash hot, but I have a budget of about $200 (perhaps $250 max), so considering that, is it a decent buy?

Both seem fine. The only brand I would avoid is Samsung. They make great displays, but are a real pain to get calibrated. Those LG ones you linked to seem to be ok.
