Blown out sky

Hi Damien

Any chance you could give me your opinion on this image of mine. Family love the image, but the background sky is overexposed and unusable..  Aything you can think of to fix it??

Well, I figure that our options with the sky will be dictated by how much tree detail can be recovered.  Go ahead and do your raw processing then show me the SOOR.

Maybe I'll revert back to Lightroom and use 'Actions' for my editing from now on    .....  Bin the file - it's not worth the agro..

If it were possible to do something passable with the sky (and I'm afraid I'm not optimistic) did you have another photo of the eldest son in focus ready to swap in?

I believe this is your only option.  It must be VERY light to be plausible.

Bloody hell - that would probably keep them happy...  Besides the sky issue - I gather you have masked out the people to expose for the trees then on a different layer added them back in at their correct exposure..?? The sky was actually that cloudless and very bright (up at Mt Coot-tha)..   Would it be possible to see your PS workflow and I'll give it a go before I completely get sick of trying to sort it..

Of course.  First make a thread in the Raw Class so we can discuss the raw processing there.  Then make a thread in the Levels Class so we can discuss the Photoshop part.
