Damien Symonds
< Go back to the previous step << Go back to the beginning All the important settings Make sure your screen looks exactly like mine: The White Point should be 6500K, unless you found out that your lab recommends something different. If so, choose your lab's setting, but consider finding a new lab very quickly. Choose "Measured Mode" then type "80" in the White Luminance field. This will be the brightness of your screen. The Gray Balance setting will be on "Faster" by default, but let's go for the best possible calibration we can. Choose "Better" here. We're about to do a full calibration, so of course choose "FullCAL" here. The default setting of Gamma 2.2 is always correct, no matter what out-of-date information you might have read about Macs using 1.8. "Room Light Compensation" must always be off, and the "Backlight" should be what you chose on a previous screen. Once all of those settings are input, press "Next" to begin the calibration process. Let's calibrate! >> Link to comment
Damien Symonds
@Damette did you put 80 in 2b as instructed? Link to comment
Damette
Yes. I see where I went wrong. The room light analysis screen changed the settings because I chose "accept recommended settings" instead of "keep the setting you selected" Link to comment
kaitlyn brodell
I contacted Datacolor about the problems I've been having calibrating my screen and they said to "calibrate at 120 cd/m^2 display brightness". Would I plug the 220 into where you had suggested 80 for the white luminance? Link to comment
Damien Symonds
No, ignore those idiots. It MUST be 80. Link to comment
Melinda Almaguer
Does the "measure room level" hold any value? my reading said the room level was "very low" Link to comment
Damien Symonds
That's bad news. Gotta get better light in there. https://www.damiensymonds.net/2012/01/light-around-your-computer.html Link to comment
Aleks Messier
Should the recommendations made on the room light analysis screen be ignored? It has 'Accept recommended settings' selected by default, should I select 'Keep the settings you selected'? Link to comment
Damien Symonds
May I see a screenshot of those options? Link to comment
Aleks Messier
I don't have a screenshot for the first monitor I calibrated, because I went ahead with 'Keep the settings you selected', and I no longer get the screen when I try to re-calibrate it, but when calibrating my second monitor (first time with this calibrator) I get this screen: Followed by this screen - the analysis results are different depending on where on my desk I place the calibrator As I said, with my first monitor, I selected the "Keep the settings you selected" option and continued, and that's when I'm brought to the calibration screen.
