Damien Symonds
@gelz, talk to me about your screen. In what way does it differ from your prints?

Damien Symonds
@gelz I know you're online right now. Please reply!
gelz
About the monitor? Well, I just printed a batch and they should arrive tomorrow and I will compare. My ‘no they don’t match’ is because I have a canon pro1000 and they don’t match that.
Damien Symonds
Oh yeah, a home printer definitely doesn't count. Gotta have pro lab prints. Which lab did you order from?
gelz
WHCC
Damien Symonds
In the meantime, PLEASE dive into your Raw Class! Just now, gelz said: WHCC Great.
gelz
But this is not for the print class. Just an order but it will give me the opportunity to compare.
gelz
My printer is not a home printer. It’s a professional photograph printer.
Damien Symonds
That means squat, I'm afraid. The most expensive home printer in the world is meaningless unless you also own the necessarily expensive printer calibration device. Do you own that device? gelz
I’m going to go with no since I’ve no idea to what you refer.
Damien Symonds
This is the one that I have: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007TCITRS/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=httpwwwdamien-20&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B007TCITRS&linkId=93d3a5a4945931a04bd18ff6ec7c8876 There are newer versions now, but it still does the job. gelz
I’m guessing this is much more than just a monitor calibrater? I have an older colormunki I still use but it was no where near that price.
Damien Symonds
It does monitors as well.
Damien Symonds
Anyway, we're getting off track. I'm glad you've ordered WHCC prints. Once they arrive, you can calibrate your monitor again to ensure a perfect match. Then PLEASE dive into your Raw Class!
gelz
I actually have. But I appreciate the push.
Damien Symonds
Oh, good. How far through are you?
gelz
I need to print the white/neutral sheets and take my three images. It’s a switch for me because I’ve take some lighting classes that use the grey card for setting the neutral on the histogram as a method for obtaining proper exposure and then using my test shot with said card in LR (which I’m trying to move away from because I don’t tend to edit in LR and yes, I’ve completely gone through your bridge class) to fix white balance. But I noticed the reflective surface you mentioned in the class on my grey card. But... now my mind is wondering how to use the grey card still for getting my exposure correct and using the white sheet for white balance. Brain is spinning.
