Im struggling with the hair if i am to make it them all on the dark background but then im trying to decide on what looks better light or dark background for all of them. I'm trying to edit them in the usual process with raw and then colour correct them so and fix contrast etc etc. but its looking so odd to me. This is an example of what i've done so far. No no no, you MUST choose a background that's akin to the existing background. This won't work at all.

Is this what you are seeing? That's ok, we can change it easily. Which would you like to change - the background yellower or the rug whiter? Del_Marie
I think the rug looking whiter would be great. Can you see any pink in the background or is it looking a fairly neutral grey to you?
Damien Symonds
No, the pink you see is because of this:

Sure, just add a Hue/Saturation layer, go to "Yellows", and increase the Lightness slider all the way to +100.
Del_Marie
Ive selected non/other because i calibrated a year ago with a i1display i think. Havent updated this yet.
Damien Symonds
Yeah. Calibration does NOT last that long.
Del_Marie
How does this look as a finished product? Is there anything you would do different or add? Ive taken the yellow out now.

Would you mind showing me how to approach the light background and fur with the first photo?

Del_Marie
Hi Damien, you sent me a quote but i cant afford to pay for all of them at the moment so im back to trying to finish them off myself again lol. These photos will be the death of me! Is the fur looking white and less yellow now? How does the skin and everything look?
Damien Symonds
Yeah, that's less yellow, and much nicer in my opinion. The skin looks completely awful. SO much clipping.
Del_Marie
Would you recommend levels to bring it back down? The clipping is on the face, do the hands and leg look decent?

Del_Marie
Thats ok, i did your levels class years ago so will have a go at it with what knowledge i know so far.
Del_Marie
How does this look? Ive just been informed she thinks its too pale. Is there a chance you can show me your take on a dark background?
Damien Symonds
Oh gee. How dark, exactly?
Del_Marie
Maybe a grey - not quite as dark as the one i tried to do maybe a bit lighter than that? On the same level as the original in the grey areas. Im trying to get a modern background that i can do for all 3x photos so hoping to keep it nice and neutral in colour. Damien Symonds
In that case, what would you want to do with the rug he's sitting on?
Del_Marie
Maybe keep the rug and ill keep it on the whiter side rather than yellow and keep the background and rug meeting visible like the original but ill straighten it more. What do you suggest? Personally i like the seemless background look but i dont think she is liking the change.
Damien Symonds
I know you said leave the join, but maybe you could have one more crack at persuading her with something like this?
