Yes, it's a real blight on the profession.  I can't think of any other profession where people start a business and accumulate clients first, then gradually learn the craft later.

I'm not meaning to offend you personally, just making an observation about the industry as a whole.

i may or may not have done this. did the same thing with spinning/fiber arts too.

just can't do anything the proper way. LOL!

It's unchecked (not showing hidden files). I guess I am confused. I have a photographer friend who does this same thing. Make adjustments in ACR, then from bridge, selects the files and drags them to a DB folder. It automatically adds the XMP files in the folder for him (like they are attached to the CR2 files). Mine USED to do that, but now I am having to manually go find the matching xmp file and then drag that manually.

Is there a reason why he can just drag the CR2 files and the xmp files follow?

    Does that make sense?

Oh gotcha! That makes sense. :)

    Hi guys

ive looked to se what aspect ratio star wars was shot in as if like to try to recreate that in a photo but of course everyone seems to be arguing about it on the web. Does anyone know the answer.

    Cheers

Which movie? I was able to look it up on IMDB for the recent one, but I'm guessing you could look up the old ones too.

    For The Force Awakens: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2488496/technical

Can anyone point me in the correct direction or link on how to properly create a Facebook cover page and sharpening?  Thank you

As far as I know, cover pics are still 851x315 pixels.

For sharpening, browse these and see what you like.

While that is the correct size, I've had better luck cropping to that ratio (851:315) - and then resizing to 2048px on the long side. This seems to look better across all devices, whereas resizing to the exact size can make it look bad on mobile.

I should have said that it's running happily under Win 8.1. No reason to suspect that it won't do the same under Win10, which is what the new machine will have to have I suppose.

    Thank you both.

I was thinking more along the lines of it being compatible with the new monitors you'll be purchasing. But your OS could play a role too. :)

  6. Not one that I've heard. Perhaps Damien knows? I kinda like the popup because it's a good reminder for me to go back to look at my history and make sure that I yes did in fact save the PSD prior to resizing and making my jpeg.

Also, this isn't usually an issue because most of the time I edit a bunch of PSDs, and then turn them into jpegs all at once via Image Processor. That pop-up doesn't appear when you do that since it only creates new jpegs in a separate folder.

Can I remove or lessen the glare on her glasses? I've looked through other glare questions on here and can't seem to figure it out!

Just make sure you've done all your raw editing first - including noise removal. :)

  8. And could you have used something like Photos or iPhoto or other software to transfer your photos to your computer?

When you say you checked the cards again - do you mean you had the cards themselves hooked up to your computer and you viewed their contents in finder? Or were you looking at the folders that LR stored the files in?

  9. Do you have any images with a strong backlight? Yours are all very evenly lit, and I think part of the editing you're finding the most appealing is due to her dramatic lighting.

It looks like heavy haze to me...as in, done in camera due to the strong light.

(example of an old photo I took, SOOR)

Well none of that worked.  Brian, the 4.5.8 version is the Mac version.  Windows is still 4.5.4, which is what I have.  I went ahead and downloaded and installed from the download rather than the disk, just because you never know.  I uinstalled, deleted the Datacolor folder, rebooted, and reinstalled.  Same issue.  I wonder if there are some registry settings that need to be wiped clean.  I'm going to see if I can contact DataColor support.

You are not the first person to report this in the recent weeks. At least the third I've seen. I'm going to go pull up the other posts and see if I can find similarities. I think they may all be PC users at least.

Hmm, so the one I was thinking of was a Mac user. And the other 2 were slightly different issues. And then I found a 4th, but her toggle wasn't working when she flicked between profiles.
