Tarria
I Have followed your instructions today and compared screen to my prints and the screen is still too cool. My Screen preset is set to normal and is 6920k compared to the required 6500k. this was the closest. Warm was 5292 and cool was 9979. (isnt is supposed to be the other way round?) I have a small office on the south side of the house. I did it at about 1.30 with the lights out and the block out blind closed. However it was still not dark dark. I have a B/W and colour photo to compare with and a set of colour cards
Damien Symonds
Remind me which Spyder you have? 8 minutes ago, Tarria said: Warm was 5292 and cool was 9979. (isnt is supposed to be the other way round?) Lots of people get confused by this. No, it's correct. In raw, the numbers are compensatory. As the temperature number gets higher and cooler in real life, the raw number gets higher and warmer to balance it. I hope this makes sense. 10 minutes ago, Tarria said: I have a B/W and colour photo to compare with and a set of colour cards For now, ignore the black-and-white one. You need a lot more than just one colour photo. Really? Surely you have others lying around?

Damien Symonds
That's right. Put it out of your mind. It's not important right now. Got other prints?
Tarria
Nope not here at home. I don't really print anything for myself. I am one of those asshole clients that just has digital files in piles. I have quite a few at the studio. but all from the same job. Grey backdrop was to magenta. Damien Symonds
Hooray! And what are they telling you?
Tarria
My screen is definitely more contrasty. Richer blacks and better definition than in my prints. But brighter My prints seem to have more magenta in them too than what i see on screen.
Damien Symonds
Concentrate on the brightness first. Fix that, then we'll talk about the rest.
Tarria
do i just do a recalibration and adjust brightness? I mean the hotspots in the pics on screen are hot but not in my prints

Tarria
i don't think i need to do this. I think the light spots on the cheeks and forehead are about right.
Damien Symonds
I don't care about the cheeks and forehead. I want to know about the OVERALL photo brightness.
