  1. Holy mackerel, yeah, that sure is over-sharpened. Ok, here's what you need to do: Duplicate the Background layer Immediately go to the Layer menu, and turn the layer into a Smart Object Then resize the image to 6x4 inch size at 300 pixels per inch, as you normally would for printing Then take another 100% crop for me. PLEASE follow the instructions properly this time.
  2. Please please PLEASE read: https://www.damiensymonds.net/2011/02/selling-digital-images.html
  3. Oh! Ok, can you show me a 100% crop of the worst area?
  4. Excellent. When you sent the print file to the lab, did you just send that whole big file, or did you resize accurately for print?
  5. Ah, ok, pity. What size is the jpeg you have? Its pixel dimensions, I mean? (File size in megabytes is irrelevant, and so is size in inches.)
  6. Hi Melissa, did you take this photo yourself, and if so, did you take it in jpeg mode, or raw?
  7. 8GB of RAM is the bare minimum that Adobe recommend for running Photoshop. So be careful not to have too many other programs open at the same time, while you have PS open. Please run Glary as soon as you can. Your free space is good. Now, is this a problem which has only begun today? Was Photoshop acting perfectly normally yesterday?
  8. This is perfectly normal. Not all programs are colour-managed. On your computer, you must only ever use Bridge to browse your photos. And on the internet, only ever use Firefox.
  9. Hi Sandy, to begin, do you mind doing this for me? https://www.damiensymonds.net/thread1.html
  10. You're welcome, it was good fun!
  11. Yep!

  13. Gosh, how annoying! Do the cursor keys still work in Essentials mode?
  14. I'm so sorry Pat, I don't know. I'm not familiar with your calibrator
  15. Can we talk about this in class briefly?
  16. Atrocious.
  17. Gosh, darkness AND glare! Tough combo. Yes, I'll be able to help to a degree, at least. But of course we must never do any Photoshop work until the raw processing is done, so go ahead and do that now, then post again.
  18. Of course. Bridge. It's the only one to use, ever. Which version of Photoshop do you have?
  19. No tutorial, no. Just post your photo and I'll help.
  20. This is the latest news I've seen: https://www.diyphotography.net/dxo-acquires-nik-collection-google-plans-develop/ But for now, you're probably in limbo. If Google have stopped updating it, but DxO haven't yet begun to do so ...
  21. Hi Edita, please post your raw-related questions in the Raw Class Posting Area, thank you. Make sure you read the "Posting Guidelines" post first.
  22. So ... are you thinking that you might need to choose a target of 140, or something like that?
  23. This makes sense, doesn't it? Didn't you say that your calibration had been lower and lower lately?
  24. Easy enough to add some "rays". Add a white Solid Color layer above the gradient layer, and clip it thereto. Then invert the mask. Then with a very low opacity white brush, paint some strokes outwards from the middle of the "sun".
