Damien Symonds Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 @cathm, talk to me about your calibration problems. In what way does your screen not match your prints?
cathm Posted December 18, 2018 Posted December 18, 2018 I tried bay photo and WHCC and they both came out darker than my monitor color. I use iMac and xrite to calibrate it. Thanks! cathy
Damien Symonds Posted December 18, 2018 Author Posted December 18, 2018 That means your monitor is too bright. Are you following the calibration instructions on my site?

Damien Symonds Posted December 22, 2018 Author Posted December 22, 2018 How are you going with this, @cathm?
Damien Symonds Posted December 22, 2018 Author Posted December 22, 2018 And I deleted it. Email is not the place for these discussions.
cathm Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 Got it, I simply replied back to the email, but I guess I had to click on "Go to this post" to reply. Now, I know! I will adjust my monitor brightness after I receive the test prints that I just submit. Thanks!
Damien Symonds Posted December 22, 2018 Author Posted December 22, 2018 Didn't you already have prints?
cathm Posted December 24, 2018 Posted December 24, 2018 (edited) I had one from one lab and I ordered the test prints, which haven't arrived yet, from another lab. Is it a bad idea to use two different labs for different products? Edited December 24, 2018 by cathm
Damien Symonds Posted December 24, 2018 Author Posted December 24, 2018 It certainly does add complications, but lots of people do it.
cathm Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 Hi Damien! My prints are less saturated than my monitor... How do I adjust this?
Damien Symonds Posted December 30, 2018 Author Posted December 30, 2018 Hi Cathy, thanks for reporting in. Can you post the photos here for me to see? Upload the exact jpeg files that you sent to the lab.
cathm Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 I will tomorrow morning when the room is brighter, thanks!
Damien Symonds Posted December 30, 2018 Author Posted December 30, 2018 What? No, upload the same digital files that you sent to the lab. Unless you have solar-powered internet, the brightness of your room has nothing to do with it.
cathm Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 Oh, I was referring to the prints that I received. Here are the files that I submitted.
Damien Symonds Posted December 30, 2018 Author Posted December 30, 2018 Oh gee, is that all you got? There's no variety there. There are a heap of colour of the spectrum that aren't represented.
cathm Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 I also have this one You are right! I should have submitted the images with more colors!!!
Damien Symonds Posted December 30, 2018 Author Posted December 30, 2018 Is the Christmas one printed exactly the same way as the others? Same lab, same paper?
cathm Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 Yes, same lab, same paper. This image color matches my monitor color, except for the green and black colors are slightly darker on the print. (but it's good enough and better than the newborn test prints.
Damien Symonds Posted December 30, 2018 Author Posted December 30, 2018 The red of Santa's suit is ok?
Damien Symonds Posted December 30, 2018 Author Posted December 30, 2018 Interesting. And are you ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY 100% sure that the overall brightness of the prints (not individual colours, overall brightness) is not significantly different from your screen?
