Damien Symonds replied to Kendra Leonard's topic in Monitor calibration questions or problems
Hi Kendra, yes, I've seen this myself. Which X-Rite do you have? -

Remember, NEVER crop during editing. http://www.damiensymonds.net/2011/09/cropping-tutorial.html

What about around their feet? The ground that's already there?
-
Gosh yes. This is fine. Please read "Part 2: Focus" of this article, especially the paragraph in bold text. You have absolutely nothing to worry about. With correct print sharpening applied, this will print a million bucks. Great.
-
Oh gosh, your previous correspondence had me so nervous about this! This is fine. It will sharpen up perfectly. You have a greater problem, I suspect. In your correspondence you said you intended to print at 16x20. But that won't work, I suspect. Have you tried a 16x20 crop? You're going to lose the people at the sides.

Oh crap. http://www.damiensymonds.net/art_tscs2.html -
Yeah, that might work.

It's a pity there's not a bit more detail, but yes, I think it's passable.

Those tutorials are complete baloney, ignore them. That's right. Grey cards are useless. Only use a white balance sheet. Please don't say that. Elements is amazingly powerful. Please let me teach you how amazingly powerful it is.

A Solid Color layer on Multiply blend mode.

Well, the further you move from the existing tones, the more risky it becomes. More risk of halos when masking, I mean. How about this?

No, that yellow ring is something that the screen recording software adds, it's not a Photoshop thing. Have you done this? -
I'll have a play with the background, and get back to you. It'll be a little later.
