  1. First, never confuse white balance and good skin tones. Often, what is "correct" skin is not what we like, which is where PS comes in and we are able to fix things. Second, your second image is much too cold in regards to white balance, and is on the dark side. Have you calibrated your monitor yet so that it matches your pro lab so that you can be sure of what you're seeing?
  2. Sounds like you were cropping during editing? Don't do that. Use that tutorial of Damien's I linked above.
  3. i guess I don't understand why transparent edges would make this easier. I also don't understand what those blue guides represent as they don't appear to be even. Have you seen Damien's tutorial on preparing a print for a canvas?
  4. Can we see a screenshot of the settings you're using when you go to increase the canvas size? And a screen shot of what it's doing now that you don't want?
  5. Can you go ahead and do your raw editing and then post again? Thanks!
  6. Try it out and see. Or you can go with a simple black border and leave all of the image on the front of the canvas.
  7. Would you mind checking your colorspace real quick? This one looks a lot more green on my phone than the earlier version and I don't know if that's because you made changes to your edit or if it's just because I'm on my phone. But I'd double check just to be sure!
  8. Probably not. Can I see a screenshot of the monitor display settings?
  9. Can we see a screenshot please of your workspace in PS, after you have attempted to lasso something?
  10. You can purchase any number of shapes and fonts from places like Etsy or Creative Market. Adobe also sells their own typekit fonts through CC.
  11. It doesn't matter if it has "too much red" it should look like what you see on your monitor since your previous prints still match.
  12. Is it that colors that change, or just the brightness? It sounds like your laptop is entering "power saving mode" while unplugged.
  13. Sorry, but unfortunately there is no "going back". The camera raw filter in PS is not the same thing as using ACR for the raw class. You won't be able to use this PSD for feedback in the raw class.
  14. And I'm also a little confused about your clients request. You said they needed something no larger than 500kb, but later asked for them to be at least 700kb? Not that the kb matter per se, but I just want to make sure we are on the same page.
  15. Don't worry about the megabytes or the kilobytes. You shouldn't have issues getting them the right size if you resize to 1500px on the long wide, and save at a quality 10 jpeg. Have you resized any files already? Are they too big for your clients request?
  16. Is this happening on the iMac screen or the external monitor that is connected to your iMac?
  17. I'm also curious how exactly you are "applying" their profile since your picture above shows you comparing the image in LR?
  18. Yeah, don't do that. How does your print compare to your monitor, within PS, when you skip the softproofing step?
  19. Can you explain what you mean by this? You shouldn't be worry about ICC profiles and soft proofing at all at this stage.
  20. I hope this doesn't sound flippant, but do you think your clients will notice these small differences in your crops? Has this been an issue before?
  21. If she got the 100mm and the 6d, it would be within her budget for the time being, wouldn't it? I personally use the 6d and the 100mm (macro lens, so a little more expensive than the one Brian recommend), and this is my go to lens for outdoor portraits. It's a great combination! And the yongnuo flashes that Christina recommended are a great addition to any camera bag when you are learning light. @Cindy Galvin, what do you shoot primarily? Portraits? Nature? Family?
