Which is the more desired, the "correct" skin tone?
Samantha LaRue replied to Lisa E's topic in Help with editing
First, never confuse white balance and good skin tones. Often, what is "correct" skin is not what we like, which is where PS comes in and we are able to fix things. Second, your second image is much too cold in regards to white balance, and is on the dark side. Have you calibrated your monitor yet so that it matches your pro lab so that you can be sure of what you're seeing? -
Canvas issues.

Sounds like you were cropping during editing? Don't do that. Use that tutorial of Damien's I linked above. -

i guess I don't understand why transparent edges would make this easier. I also don't understand what those blue guides represent as they don't appear to be even. Have you seen Damien's tutorial on preparing a print for a canvas? -

Can we see a screenshot of the settings you're using when you go to increase the canvas size? And a screen shot of what it's doing now that you don't want? -

Can you go ahead and do your raw editing and then post again? Thanks! -
Best way to extend image to cover canvas wrap area
Samantha LaRue replied to Snook's topic in Help with editing
Try it out and see. Or you can go with a simple black border and leave all of the image on the front of the canvas. -
Can we see a screenshot please of your workspace in PS, after you have attempted to lasso something?

You can purchase any number of shapes and fonts from places like Etsy or Creative Market. Adobe also sells their own typekit fonts through CC.

Lab print is no longer matching
Samantha LaRue replied to SandySilveira's topic in Monitor calibration questions or problems
It doesn't matter if it has "too much red" it should look like what you see on your monitor since your previous prints still match. -
Primary Monitor Wrapping (?) in Photoshop
Samantha LaRue replied to HeatherH's topic in The Macintosh User Group
Is this happening on the iMac screen or the external monitor that is connected to your iMac? -
Calibration Frustration
Samantha LaRue replied to Lady Photog's topic in Monitor calibration questions or problems
I'm also curious how exactly you are "applying" their profile since your picture above shows you comparing the image in LR? -

Samantha LaRue replied to Lady Photog's topic in Monitor calibration questions or problems
Yeah, don't do that. How does your print compare to your monitor, within PS, when you skip the softproofing step? -

Can you explain what you mean by this? You shouldn't be worry about ICC profiles and soft proofing at all at this stage. -
Uncheck Delete Cropped Pixels

I hope this doesn't sound flippant, but do you think your clients will notice these small differences in your crops? Has this been an issue before? -
Did you shoot raw, Hayley?

If she got the 100mm and the 6d, it would be within her budget for the time being, wouldn't it? I personally use the 6d and the 100mm (macro lens, so a little more expensive than the one Brian recommend), and this is my go to lens for outdoor portraits. It's a great combination! And the yongnuo flashes that Christina recommended are a great addition to any camera bag when you are learning light. @Cindy Galvin, what do you shoot primarily? Portraits? Nature? Family?
