Hi Damien - I am doing your sharpening course but I just need to check my colourspace in ACR. It currently says ' Adobe RGB (1998) but do I need to change this to sRGB IEC6 1966 2.1?
Yes, definitely. Everything must be set to sRGB.

That's weird. You mean it does absolutely nothing when you click the "Open Image" button?

I don't have a solution for this photo at all, sorry. The background behind the hair is just too varied.

My brain is mush (I just had a baby) but could you tell me how to replace the background in my families pictures I have a handful of these where my background isn't enough and I would just like to extend it.
May I see a 100% crop of the area at the top of Dad's head?

I can't tell for sure at this size, but I suspect you forgot your noise removal.

What sort of templates are they, @Cindy?

If you're getting a good calibration (finally!) with your current calibrator, then no, I wouldn't bother upgrading.

HOLY SHIT!!! I think I finally got it! I contacted Datacolor and they had me reset to factory, which I thought I had already done and a few other things. Anyway, at the end of calibration, it looked much better, but still a bit bright. But, now my brightness is at 30 and it's pretty damn close. Now maybe I can get some motivation to edit again! Thank you for sticking with me.
Hooray!!!!

Thanks for asking. Of course you can ask them wherever you find more convenient. But yeah, I'd prefer them on FB.

It might be possible to use Liquify to squash it down a little bit, at least.

I'm so sorry Dianna, I don't know.

Of course not perfect, but passable.

Hi @Nems, have you done this? https://www.damiensymonds.net/art_tscs000.html

If this is a client photo, you must delete it.
If it's a personal photo, it's just passable, but don't attempt to print it big.

Hi @meris, can I just check that these are real crops from the photos, not screenshots? Screenshots aren't colour-managed, you see, so the colours would be inaccurate.
-
Hmm ... something went wrong with your 100% crop. Could you take it again? https://www.damiensymonds.net/2013/09/grabbing-700x700px-100-crop.html

You don't ever need to go into the "Convert to Profile" or "Assign Profile" windows. Ignore them.
This one is correct of course:

Hi @Nems, only in PS. Never sharpen in ACR.
The class you've just signed up for will explain everything.
-
Well, since you have to do your raw editing again anyway ...

It's the same class. Levels and Curves both. But trust me, once you learn Levels you'll never waste any time with Curves again.

That is VERY freakin' weird. I've never seen it before.
When you press OK and OK to close all the way out of that layer, then double-click it to open it again, are your grey swatches still there? Or has it reverted to rainbow again?
-
PLEASE don't wait any longer to take the Levels Class, I beg you.
-
If you just press "OK" to that window for a moment, does it take you back to the smaller window? That's where you'll find the "Angle" setting. Also make sure "Dither" is checked.
-
Well, the faces could definitely be brighter.
-
Of course you'd need to mask in between all the legs as well.

Yes, the Graphics Processor was going to be my suggestion too.
Can you do this for me?
