Damien Symonds replied to Caron VO's topic in Monitor calibration questions or problems
Yeah, I fear it might be VGA. Can you separate them and show me? -
2014 Color Munki
Damien Symonds replied to Caron VO's topic in Monitor calibration questions or problems
Hi @Caron VO, I'm quite sure your ColorMunki is fine. But yes, there's been a software update. Now, the Munki uses the software that also ships with the newer i1Display Studio. You can get the software here. Then follow my calibration instructions here. -
Color Casts interiors
Damien Symonds replied to John Day's topic in Miscellaneous questions or problems
Hi @John Day, could you show me some examples of your interior photos? -
Looks like this levels layer will work fine: https://max.mailbigfile.com/b132c30ad7f4e7a8ce8376a4addd5534/listFiles.php

Yeah Run, don't walk, to the Raw Class re-sign-up page. This is dreadful.

May I see just the raw edit?

Saving question
Damien Symonds replied to Mary Burgy's topic in Output - print, websites, Facebook, email, client disk, etc
I have absolutely no idea, sorry. I've never dabbled with Facebook's date controls. -
This is another one of those things that's a dead simple one-step edit with Channel Mixer in Photoshop; but takes a few steps with Elements. The Elements workaround, as you probably know, is here: https://www.damiensymonds.net/tut_psecm.html Here's the file: https://max.mailbigfile.com/c2700cd21ad057e6c2dffe4227e74f0e/listFiles.php

Crative Cloud Issue on a iMac
Damien Symonds replied to Michelle Pena's topic in The Macintosh User Group
It's no biggie, you just need to go to the Layers panel submenu (the three little lines) and choose "Panel Options". Presently your thumbnail size is set to "None". Change it to something bigger.- 1 reply

Yep, you got it. Use Image Processor, and include an action that resizes and sharpens. Exactly as discussed at the end of these instructions. https://www.damiensymonds.net/act_web.html

Not crazy at all. I mean, it's a bit hard to let photos go that you know aren't as good as they can be, but it's what we have to do sometimes. Generally you'd do the ACR editing the same as normal, then at the last minute, increase the Contrast slider. Also be generous with Clarity.

Don't forget how you warped her cheek and generally messed up the hair swap on that camera-left side of her face. I can help you with the shadow, but I'll wait, if you don't mind. Start again and avoid all those other problems.

Camera RAW Filter
Damien Symonds replied to DonnaJames's topic in Photoshop / Elements / Bridge / ACR questions or problems
It has no purpose. Never use it. -
Ah yeah, that gels well.

Hang on ... you've warmed the background. Which is great! So you don't need to fiddle with the red channel on the people after all.
-
Hmmm ... 20 is definitely too much, isn't it? Fiddle around with it and see if there's a spot where it looks good.
-
Thanks. I wanted to suggest adding a Levels layer immediately above the "couple" layer, then clipping it to that layer, then going to the Red channel and bringing the black slider in to about 20. Yes it will make his suit clip a bit, but it will balance the colour with their surrounds a bit more, I think.
-
Yeah, that might be better. May I see a screenshot of the layers panel?

Hi @SLS, sorry about my delayed reply. I was doing the grocery shopping I don't have any "clever tricks" for you, I'm afraid. It will begin with Levels using the eyedropper tool, and careful masking. After that, very painful, painstaking cloning. Download this PSD file to see how I've done one of the glares so far.

It does seem to be encroaching on his leg an unnatural amount, doesn't it? I think you've left a bit too much grass there.
