Okay, can you send me the exact A4 file you sent to the lab? https://spaces.hightail.com/uplink/BellePhotography -

@Naomibb I received your files. You said: Which print lab do you use?
-
Right, because you haven't finished the Raw Class yet.
-
They sure will.
-
I'm so glad you'll get to see it in real life. I'm always so nervous about people ordering screens online.
-
What you're doing wrong is trying to edit photos before you've learned to do so! You've taken the Layers and Masks Class, which is NOT an editing class. It just teaches you the tools. The Levels Class teaches you how to edit.
-
Seems good to me. Will you get to see it in person?
-
Sorry, I haven't actually looked at your screen, because I got distracted by this comment: You MUST make sure the teens know that your monitor is calibrated for imaging, and if they touch the monitor's settings (brightness, colour, contrast) even a tiny bit, they'll be grounded for a million f&*king years. Agreed?
-
Then you'll probably need to budget for a new calibrator as well. Old calibration technology is increasingly not playing well with modern screen technology.
-
Hi Jessie, which calibrator do you have?

So you downloaded the .atn file, then you double-clicked on it? And what happened? -

I can't remember any mention of selection tools in that article? -

Can you remind me which version of Photoshop you have? -
I honestly don't know, sorry. Yes.

I'm so sorry, I can't remember the discussion you're referring to. Could you give me a bit more information? -
If you go to my search page, and begin to type "Gradie..." you'll find a few resources.

The only way is by resizing carefully to exactly the right size and resolution for each form of output (print, web, whatever). If you don't have that control, and it seems likely that you don't, then your only other solution is to blur the hell out of the shirt to get rid of the texture altogether. Not a satisfactory method, I'm sure you'll agree.
-
Honestly, I don't know. You're right, the other one is a disaster.
-
Oh, that explains it. Zero feathering. None at all.
-
That's odd. I wonder why the edges didn't work?
-
Mate, so sorry about my delayed reply. Yes, I do have a different suggestion for you. It's easier, but it ONLY works when your subject doesn't encroach over the edge of your backdrop. STEP 1: Duplicate the Background layer. STEP 2: Use the marquee tool to select the first check of undesirable background: STEP 3: Go to Edit>Fill, and choose "Content Aware": STEP 4: Press OK and it will fill the area with generic backdrop colour: STEP 5: Do the same on the other side - select the chunk, Edit>Fill, OK: STEP 6: Use the lasso tool to select around the subject: STEP 7: Again, Edit>Fill with Content Aware: STEP 8: Deselect, then apply enough Gaussian Blur to your satisfaction: (IMPORTANT NOTE: Your number will be a lot higher than mine, since I was doing this demonstration on the web-sized file.) STEP 9: Add a mask to the blurred layer, and mask it around the subject. Hopefully you won't need too much precision, but check very carefully that you haven't gone onto the person: STEP 10: Add the noise layer, the same way you did when you were adding a gradient layer. Let me know how you go with this.

This happens to everybody from time to time. I don't know why. Just re-load the actions.- 1 reply
