  1. Yes, of course you could just do one layer and mask. But if you do it that way, you have to mask every.single.strand.of.hair.on.her.head. And that would drive anyone to insanity. This way, you only have to mask the hairs you don't want. Have you read this? You actually did the right thing here. If you'd remembered to bring a comb, this would have been dead easy.
  2. Try Dust & Scratches filter at 15/5 and see what you think.
  3. "Convert to sRGB" and "Embed Color Profile" must be checked, always.
  4. Don't worry about either Progressive or Optimized. Convert to sRGB is good, but of course shouldn't be necessary, because your files should already be sRGB.
  5. I know you don't! That's a MASSIVE problem.
  6. Yes, fully calibrate their computer/screen as if it was your own.
  7. Well, you need to find one. A family member, or a friend, or an easy-going neighbour.
  8. Don't buy anything new yet. First, use the calibrator to calibrate a different computer, and see if it gives better results.
  9. No, it's still untagged. You mustn't have the "Embed Color Profile" box checked.
  10. Only replace it with the dark colour. Do not attempt to replace it with a light colour. Make this as easy as possible for yourself.
  11. Yes, I think this is a good idea also. Start completely afresh, you know?
  12. You can also do it very easily in Bridge. After editing the first image in ACR, press "Done" to close it. Then in Bridge, right-click on it and choose "Develop Settings>Copy Settings". Then select all the other files, right-click again and choose "Paste Settings".
  13. Dust & Scratches filter at 6/12 should do it nicely.
  14. What's bothering me is the different colour of whites. The whites of the clouds are greenish, whereas the whites of the snow are pinkish. It's incongruous.
  15. Please read ALL my instructions. I told you to change to Soft Light blend mode BEFORE running High Pass.
  16. It's just High Pass, isn't it? Make a new blank layer above the others, then Cmd Opt Shift E to stamp visible. Change the layer blend mode to Soft Light, then Filter>Other>High Pass. Start with the slider at 0, and slowly raise it to taste. Play with other blend modes too, such as Overlay, if you wish.
  17. It's still unchecked The photo still doesn't have a profile attached.
  18. Yes, you temporarily plug the TV in to your computer to act as a monitor, then use the excellent testing features of the X-Rite i1 Display Pro calibration device. It gives very accurate readings of the brightness and temperature in each section of a 3x3 grid on the screen.
  19. Right. Can you do it again, and take a careful look at the "ICC Profile" checkbox? I think yours might be unchecked.
  20. Gosh, good question! How is the actual calibration? Is it still achieving a print match for you?
