I'm sorry it's bad news. For a long time I had an article on my website about the Smile, because I bought one too (for testing purposes). And it was so terrible that I wrote a strongly-worded article warning everyone not to buy it. In my recent overhaul of the website I removed that article because I thought the Smile was safely in the past. I didn't realise it was still haunting some people.

Oh shit. Well, that's why you can't get an accurate calibration. Throw that thing in the bin (it's not even worth selling) and get a proper one.

Ignore the lab profile for now. It's only for photos with very vivid colours. Let's concentrate on what's important. Which calibrator do you have?

Great! So you can either: simply choose to edit solely on that one, and only use the other (cooler) screen for emails and stuff; or keep going with recalibrations on the cooler screen (continuing to follow the troubleshooting part of my instructions) to try to get it warmer and better.

Ok, try again at 70. If that's still too bright, then it definitely means that your room light is too dim.

What brightness target did you use that time?

At the beginning of the Raw Class. First or second module, I can't remember.

Recalibrate with lower brightness, exactly as my directions say.

The graphs look good, but it all means nought if you don't have a print match.
