  1. As long as you're doing your raw processing on those files before saving them as TIFF, and as long as they're in 16-bit, then they'll be fine.
  2. Duh. It's fucking awful. Exactly. Causing immense clipping. That's right. Those areas still have no detail, but they're now dark grey, not black any more. It won't affect printing. It'll print as it appears. No, that is absolutely the point. Intentional clipping is almost always part of the matte effect.

  4. Well, we can make yours work for that style, except of course your daughter's face needed to be lit, not in shadow, for it to work perfectly.
  5. Hi @RxB, the next time you upgrade your computer it's likely that your Spyder4 just won't work on it. But for now, if your Spyder4 is still giving you a satisfactory screen-to-print match, there is no need to upgrade. Is it? Giving you a satisfactory screen-to-print match, I mean?
  6. C'mon Gaby, you already know the answer to this, and I don't know why you thought you'd hear any different from me. YOU CANNOT EDIT UNDER THESE CONDITIONS.
  7. I've never figured out how this gets changed by accident, but it happens to everyone from time to time.
  8. Your thumbnail size is on "None". Choose "Panel Options" from the Layers Panel submenu to change it.
  9. Can you find an example photo with a lower percentage of shadow areas, more similar to yours?
  10. Hi @ange55, you definitely should run CleanMyMac promptly.
  11. Of course I haven't heard of the problem. I'm a Photoshop guy. But troubleshooting is troubleshooting. I don't know, sorry.
  12. This is really fundamental stuff, Pat. It should make you wonder what else you're missing out on. https://www.damiensymonds.net/trainingialm.html
  13. No, this is really really bad. You NEVER change your monitor profile. And you definitely don't calibrate to Rec-709, any more than you calibrate to sRGB or Adobe RGB for photography. Rec-709 is a working space, not a monitor profile. No wonder you're having problems.
  14. By Alt-clicking on the eye of that layer, of course. To turn off all the other layers.
  15. Seems like your old computer is falling apart. Better budget for a new one.
  16. If photos in Photoshop look fine compared to their prints, then we can rule out a calibration problem, and start to look elsewhere for the issue. Please confirm this.
  17. You're missing the point. You need to make sure your calibration has worked properly, and not screwed up your screen. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WOULD YOU CHECK YOUR CALIBRATION AGAINST PRINTS?
  18. Then you didn't follow my tutorial, did you? It's right there at the beginning in a big unmissable red box. It doesn't matter if you're not a photographer. You still need prints to confirm calibration.
