During the normal calibration process, what was your Brightness target?

The first thing to do is unclip that layer. Clipping is not necessary here. Then it's time to add some shadow for realism. In between the two layers you have there, add a Hue/Saturation layer, and lower the Lightness slider to about -60. Then invert its mask, then start painting on some shadows under the arm and hand, with a very low opacity brush.

From what I'm reading, this is a very common problem, with no reliable solution. Did you see this page? Also, do you have any older versions of Elements still installed on your computer? I can't help giving you a big fat "I told you so". Organizer has always been a terrible feature, and NOBODY should use it. If you're ready to make the change, watch this then this.

No, they're not. Your prints are what they are. Your screen is too bright and too contrasty. Were you following my instructions here?

This is starting to point to something about the import process. How did you get the photos from camera to computer; and did you change your method in any way, recently?

A jpeg that you saved after editing? Or did you shoot Raw+Jpeg in camera?

And is it only the raw files? Once you edit and save as a PSD, you can see the thumbnail of that ok?

Hi Jo, can you still see thumbnails of older images? Is it just the newest photos that won't generate? Or can you not see any thumbnails at all?

What was the solution?

To keep your mind at ease, you can download the little "DisplayProfile" app that I referenced in this article. Once both screens are calibrated, you can drag that app from screen to screen, and each time you do so, you'll see it change to reflect the profile being used for that screen.

Don't worry, it won't Just calibrate the second screen the same way you always did. Your graphics card will know the difference.
